Parsha: Beshalach (2025)

“March forward,” they did. Not long after, the Jewish people experienced one of the greatest miracles of all time, the splitting of the sea.

In life we sometimes find ourselves surrounded by challenges, and we ask ourselves, “what am I supposed to do?”

G-d’s response is, “march forward.”

Keep climbing, for very soon if you persevere you will discover a miracle that’s waiting for you.

Recent events in our community could make us  feel frustrated or saddened at times. It can get us to ask questions, of uncertainty or doubt. Again the repsonse is, “March forward.”

This is the mandate G-d gave us at the time when we left Egypt, and this message of perseverance continued to be passed down to the generations which helped us survive and thrive through all different types of challenges.

This reminds me of the story of Yuri Levine who was captured by terrorists on October 7. He was being brought to Gaza as a hostage. Then at a moment when he was left alone and no one was holding him down, he decided to run. He ran all the way home, and was saved, with G-d’s help.

He moved forward, when he was given the chance. He then experienced the miracles of freedom and safety.

We too can learn from Yuri’s courage to march forward into the uknown, just like we have been doing for millennia. We too can experience our own miracles.

Shabbat Shalom!
