Parsha: Metzora (2024)

There is a lot of deep meaning this year when we read the words of the Haggadah, “In every generation they rise against us to destroy us; and the Holy One, blessed be He, saves us from their hand!”

We have been reading these same words for hundreds of years. Jews have read it throughout history in many different situations. We have read it in times of peace and times of war. In times of persecution and in times of tranquility.
However each and every time the words ring true “G-d saves us from their hand!”

Very recently we have witnessed such a moment when G-d saved us from our enemies.
Just a few days ago close to 400 missiles were fired at Israel and a huge percentage of missiles didn’t even make it to the border and there was no loss of life. It is unprecedented in world history or in Israel’s history.

A Professor of physics who worked for several years in the defense industry in Israel shared the following:
“Even if we got 90% protection it would have been a miracle!!
What happened is that everyone, but everyone – the pilots, the systems operators and the technology operators acted as one man, at one moment in total unity. If this is not an act of G-d, then I no longer know what a miracle is.”

We can take a moment to think about this. The message of the “Vehi Sheamda” will resonate more than ever, with our family and guests at the Seder.

Let’s take this opportunity to also infuse confidence and positivity in Jewish survival and growth. A moment to inspire ourselves and our children to feel proud and happy to be part of the “Am Hanetzach” (the everlasting nation).

Wishing you and your families Shabbat Shalom and Chag Kasher V’Sameach!
